The palate is energetic and is backed up by intense dark red fruit that follows with a long flavourful finish.
The 2016 Meres has a perfumed bouquet with bright layers of rose petal, raspberry, lavender and subtle cool spice notes. The palate has a long, juicy and sappy core of ripe forest fruits - raspberry and blackberry - that is complemented and neatly surrounded by fine earthy tannin. The power of the fruit-driven palate offers early appeal, however the tannin and structure of the wine will ensure good medium-term cellaring potential.
Golden straw in hue, the 2018 Beurrot Pinot Gris shows perfumed aromas of honey-tinged apple and pear skin, followed by lemon pith, rose petal and spice. The palate displays lively green apple and kaffir lime flavours and is delicately textured with zesty acidity and a savoury oatmeal finish.
The 2018 Massale Pinot Noir offers a youthful perfume of black cherry, wild summer berries and dried rose petal. On the palate, the wine is deep, medium-bodied and layered with flavours of cherry and cranberry, soft pillowy tannins and excellent length and fruit purity.
The soft, creamy texture reflects the relatively warm vintage, but the sweet fruit is balanced by abundant ripe, round tannins.
The flavour spectrum ranges from strawberries, raspberries, and boysenberries, through to cinnamon and clove, tapenade and coffee.
In typical fashion, the 2016 Haven opens with a brooding nose of deep red fruits and spicy aromas of sandalwood, kola nut and dried orange peel. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and tangy, with flavours of cranberry and blood plum, that stretch the full length along with a tight line of very fine tannin. The fleshy fruit weight of the palate allows accessibility now, however the structure suggests this is a wine that will develop even more interest with time.
Attractive citrus scents combine with blossoming white flowers and honeysuckle on the nose. Fresh mandarin and ginger spice dominate the palate with lemon pith, white nectarine and toasted cashew. The briny acidity provides a linear freshness resulting in excellent length and a chalky texture.
